City Council is expected to approve $500,000 for improvements during a meeting on Thursday.

The money will fund new sidewalks, curbs and gutters along Third Avenue North approaching Third Street and on Third Street between Third and Fourth avenues North. Sidewalk improvements are planned for Fourth Avenue and Fourth Street near the $70 million museum…<div>

Dana Young (R-Tampa) filed a bill Friday that would fund the Tampa Bay Area Regional Transit Authority with $25 million, to be used exclusively for dollar-for-dollar matches from either a private entity or the local government, and prioritized for autonomous vehicle and transportation network company projects. 

The funds wouldn’t be available until 2021.

Reps. Bryan Avila (R-Hialeah) and Jamie Grant (R-Tampa) are co-sponsoring a similar bill in the House.

The school, through its Board of Trustees and the USF Foundation, brought on two people to lead the office in August but officially launched it this week.

The idea is to better connect researchers, interns and other university assets to local businesses by reducing the complexity of working within a large system and providing a “front door” concierge service.

Chiaramonte expects to come up with a process to search for his replacement in the spring, which will be about a nine-month process, he said. His contract expires in February 2019.

American Community Survey five-year data released Thursday estimates the average daily work commute for drivers in the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater metro takes 26.7 minutes.

That commute is longer than in Jacksonville, but less than in Miami or Orlando. All Florida metros have shorter commute times than areas estimated the worse in the nation.
