The nine-story hotel, which will carry the Hampton Inn by Hilton, Home2 Suites by Hilton flags, will have 213 guest rooms and include a ground-floor Starbucks. It will be built on a currently vacant parcel at 1155 E. Kennedy Blvd., which is just under an acre.

Plans for the hotel first went public in December 2016.

However, a new study from WalletHub takes into account other aspects such as financial security and risk of natural disasters. 

Using this methodology, Tampa ranked near the middle of the pack, at No. 108 out of the 182 cities included in the report. St. Petersburg fared worse, ranking No. 156, although it ranked higher than Orlando at No. 176.

Ondrej Palat and his wife, Barbora, paid $3.3 million for a home on Lucerne Avenue in a deal that closed Dec. 7, according to Hillsborough County property records. 

The Palats took a $2.3 million mortgage on the home from RBC Bank, property records show. The couple owns another home on Davis Islands, on Biscayne Avenue, for which they paid $1.275 million in 2014.

A Lightning spokesman declined comment Monday.
